Accessibility and Usability

CitiPower and Powercor have a strong commitment to ensuring our website complies with the highest usability standards. We have also taken steps to ensure people with disabilities or limited web skills can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with our website.

  • We have used a clean design format and page presentation layout.
  • We offer both Flash and Javascript versions of our website navigation and interactive maps. If the Flash plug-in is not installed on your computer, the website will automatically toggle to the alternative version allowing you to navigate the website.
  • All content, contained in the body copy of the website can be enlarged by using the user friendly font size adjustment toggle, which is available on each page.
  • The website is compatible with the following web browsers:
    • IE 6
    • IE 7
    • PC Firefox
    • Mac Firefox
    • Mac Safari
  • The website employs robust, stable and proven platforms and technologies:
    • PHP 4 (requires GD graphics library plug-in)
    • MySQL 4
    • Flash 8
    • Javascript/DHTML/CSS
  • A TAB function has been implemented across the website to allow users with disabilities to easily move around the website without the need for a mouse.
  • To overcome red/green sight impairment, often referred to as “colour blindness”, our creative design has ensured that at no point in layout of the website do either green and red come close to or touch one another.

The CitiPower and Powercor website (excluding microsites) has been validated to meet W3C standards. These standards are in place to ensure that websites conform to a stringent list of accessibility and usability requirements.
