Graduate Program

CitiPower and Powercor's challenging and rewarding Graduate Development Program is focused on providing recent graduates with the right life tools, challenges, skills and hands-on experience to foster technical experts and future business leaders.

Our three year program provides graduates with solid business awareness at regional and central locations and gives an opportunity to work under a variety of company disciplines.

What does the Graduate Program consist of?

Our actual rotation program runs for 3 years, however, we endeavour to provide graduates with additional support and mentoring during a further two-year transition process into the business.

Our 3-year structured rotational scheme will expose graduates to various networks and systems within CitiPower/Powercor including opportunity for secondment at one of our key regional depots.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be offered a permanent position within our group.

How many graduates do you employ each year?

Each year we look to appoint a minimum of 6 Electrical Engineering Graduates into the 1st year of our program.

What type of graduates do you look for?

We seek Electrical Engineering graduates who ideally have an interest in the utilities sector.

Our graduates are energetic, well-rounded and innovative team players, who have great written and oral communication skills, can demonstrate life experience working with customers and/or the community, and who have the potential to be developed into one of our company's future leaders.

What salary and benefits can I expect?

We offer a competitive base starting salary plus 10% superannuation. Employees are eligible for annual bonuses and annual salary increment increases pending on performance. We are happy to provide further information on salary at the time of interview.

As an employer, we recognise and value the importance of offering flexible work practices that strike a balance between work life interests. We offer awards such as our Business Innovation Cup and Spirit of Excellence to encourage employees to excel in their everyday work life. Other benefits that we offer include generous leave allowances, income protection, service awards, health and wellbeing programs and social club membership.

When do Applications Close?

Applications for the 2010 program close May 2010.

What does the application process involve?

An online application will generally take about 30-60 minutes to complete and applicants will be asked to answer some general questions and provide a resume, cover letter and information relating to their most recent academic transcript.

Once applications have closed we undertake a thorough screening process and if short-listed you may be contacted for a brief telephone discussion. Further selection activities may involve cognitive abilities testing and a face-to-face panel based interview.

After I apply when should I expect to hear from you?

Once applications have been submitted, we will send an email to confirm receipt. Applicants will then be contacted after the closing date has expired, once all applications have been reviewed. Please note, due to the large number of applications that we receive, those that are unsuccessful in the initial screening stage will be notified via email only.
