Vegetation Management

In the interest of public safety, bushfire prevention and to minimise supply interruptions, CitiPower and Powercor must prune and occasionally remove trees and other vegetation located near electricity lines.

Our vegetation management policies and practices are developed in accordance with the Electricity Safety (Electric Line Clearance) Regulations 2010. They also take into account the goals of Victoria's Flora and Fauna Guarantee and heritage legislation.

CitiPower and Powercor consult landowners and community, heritage, and environmental groups when pruning and cutting of vegetation is required.

When we build new or expand existing electricity lines and infrastructure we also consult closely with local groups, councils and environment organisations to ensure the environmental impact is minimal.

Powercor contracts its Vegetation Management works to VEMCO Australia and their performance is independently reviewed each year through a customer survey.
