Landcare

In late 2006 CitiPower and Powercor made a significant commitment to Landcare by becoming Silver Level Partners. While we have supported Landcare over many years through different projects, we have taken our support to the next level with this ongoing and formal commitment. Through our partnership we will continue to assist with Landcare initiatives that we have supported in the past, and will support a number of new projects.

Through our partnership we are supporting awards and festivals including the North Central CMA Landcare Festival, the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority Environment Awards and the Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority Landcare Awards.

We work with Landcare to support environmental education projects including the Weed Warriors Program - a weed control initiative engaging schools and their local communities - and in 2007, we subsidised registrations for the Victorian Youth Environment Conference in Port Fairy, which involved 22 schools from across the State.  We have also made a series of grants to Victorian schools to assist with their environmental projects through the Junior Landcare program.

Through Landcare we support the unique Middle Island Penguin project that sees Maremma dogs guarding penguins from predators.

Our support also extends to numerous Landcare groups including the Friends of Pallisters Reserve (near Warrnambool), Sheepwash Creek (near Bendigo), Swan Bay (Bellarine Peninsula) and to Landcare groups and projects in Mildura, Shepparton and Horsham.
