Access to Property
Where a section of our electricity network crosses your property, we occasionally need to enter your property to undertake repairs or maintenance.
Our employees or authorised contractors may need access to your property for reasons including:
- Reading or inspecting the meter
- Connecting or disconnecting the electricity supply
- Inspecting and/or testing the electrical installation
- Pruning or clearing vegetation from power lines, and
- Undertaking repairs or maintenance.
When visiting your property, we do our best to take care of your land and the natural environment. An example of this is our Weed Policy, which helps prevent the introduction and spread of noxious weeds, pest plants and disease in your area.
Occasionally (particularly in rural areas) our representatives will need to access sections of your property via chain locked gates.
In these cases, new locks will be affixed to existing chains, ensuring your property remains secure and accessible to you after necessary works are completed. CitiPower and Powercor does not share keys to these locks with any other party.
In some cases, we may already have keys that allow our employees or authorised contractors limited access to undertake activities related to your electricity supply. You can check if we have a registered key to your property by contacting us.
