Meters

CitiPower and Powercor are responsible for installing and reading electricity meters within our distribution areas. We pass the information on to electricity retailers, who use it to calculate the total of your electricity bill.

You should contact your electricity retailer to request additional meter reads. Most traditional electricity meters are read four times each year.

You can easily measure how many kilowatt hours of electricity you use in a day, a week or another period by reading your meter at the start and finish of the period.

Monitoring your usage helps to identify which appliances use large amounts of electricity, and can allow you to anticipate or reduce your electricity costs.

To calculate your electricity use, simply subtract the previous reading from the reading you have taken. The difference represents the energy used in the period since the last reading.
