Restoration

In the event of a power outage, our operations control centres are notified of the outage, either automatically via our system monitoring equipment or our call centres, which receive reports from customers during smaller outages.

You can report problems with your power supply, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It helps if you have your 11 digit national meter number on hand when you call.

When we’re notified of an outage, crews are immediately dispatched to attend to the problem. Our networks are designed to provide alternative supply to cater for most fault situations but, in the instance of severe damage, extended interruptions can occur.

During widespread outages, we restore supply to essential services first, and then undertake repairs that will restore power to the most customers and customers who have been without power the longest. If you see power restored across the street or nearby and you remain without power along with other neighbours, remember that not all circuits are restored at once. Different parts of a neighbourhood may be on different circuits.

During widespread outages, usually during storms, it's best to listen to ABC Local radio for updates and restoration estimates.
