Extension Works

To begin the process of connecting electricity supply to your property you will need to review the appropriate Extension Works Information Brochure and send a completed corresponding Application Form to Powercor. These documents are available below, for urban, rural, business and subdivided properties.

What happens next?

Once we receive your Application form, Powercor can provide a budget estimate, an estimate the time needed to build the new connection and explain the options you may have in choosing who performs various tasks. There is no charge for the first budget estimate.

What will the extension cost?

The cost of extending or upgrading Powercor's electricity lines to supply your property is your responsibility, and all monies payable to Powercor are to be received in full prior to works commencing. Powercor may contribute towards your connection, depending on the amount of electricity you consume. Both the time and cost involved in connecting electricity to your property may be influenced by:

  • The location of existing poles on the road reserve or on a neighbour's property
  • Trees in the area where poles are likely to go, and surrounding terrain
  • Adjoining property owners who may wish to share costs
  • Whether there is easy and open access to your property
  • The existing load on Powercor's network in your vicinity.

What should I do first?

If you are planning a new or upgraded electricity connection to your property you should seek early advice on 13 22 06. Your early enquiry ensures we connect electricity to your premises when you need it.

You may complete and submit an online application form below, or print the relevant document(s) and forward to Powercor by mail.
