At Powercor, we want to make the process of organising a new connection for your premises or upgrading your existing connection as smooth as possible. There are different steps in the connections process, depending on your location or circumstances.
Existing Power Supply
If your premises is located in a residential area, there may already be an electricity supply available at your property. The best way to determine if a supply is available is to check for poles, lines, or an underground electricity pit near your property boundary. For this type of new connection, you need to contact your retailer to request a connection of your electricity. The retailer then instructs Powercor to make the connection. A connection fee will apply, which will appear on the first bill from your retailer.
No Existing Power Supply - Extension Works
Where you have built a house, shed, pump or other structure in a location well away from Powercor's electricity network, there may be no electricity supply available to your property. In this case, Powercor will need to extend an electricity line to provide you with an electricity supply.
It is important that you plan ahead to ensure an electricity supply can be made available when it is needed. Contact Powercor early to investigate your options regarding who can construct the new electricity line, and the lead time that might be involved before an electricity supply can be made available to your property. You will be required to contribute to the cost incurred by whomever you choose to construct the new electricity line to your property.
