Subscribing CitiPower and Powercor customers will receive SMS or email updates advising them of a major power outage in their area, when a crew has been dispatched and an estimated time for power restoration. The new contact system will also inform customers when power has been restored.
The introduction of this new service follows an extensive and successful trial last year involving 3000 customers in several regions across Western and Central Victoria. The trial and subsequent implementation were in response to customer requests for more information during large scale events.
We are among Australia’s most reliable electricity distributors, but the occasional problem is inevitable. The new information service can be used to enhance communications during, widespread events such as windstorms, bushfires and electrical load shedding events.
We are committed to reducing the inconvenience that power outages have on our customers. The SMS and email service will give subscribing customers the most up-to-date information immediately, saving them the need to call the Contact Centre.
We invite customers to register by going to the Customer Self Service section of our web site.
A copy of the power bill will be needed to help with the registration process.
