Who we are

CitiPower and Powercor are leading network distributors in the National Electricity Market.

We provide safe, reliable and affordable power to about 1.2 million Victorian customers every day. To do this, we operate a network of poles, wires and infrastructure that distribute electricity to and from our customers.

In other words, we bring power produced by electricity generators to our customers’ meters. We also manage the meters (almost all of which are advanced, smart meters) and provide the meter data to energy retailers who issue your electricity bills.

As more people and businesses install rooftop solar and batteries, we are also the network that you export into when you want to get paid for the extra power you generate and share it with others.

CitiPower

CitiPower supplies 332,000 customer connections in the Melbourne CBD and inner suburbs. With forecasts expecting Melbourne to become Australia’s most populous city, our electricity is relied upon by customers ranging from residents, small businesses and major office buildings to world-class sporting, public health, education and cultural precincts.

Powercor

Powercor supplies electricity across 64% of Victoria spanning from the western suburbs of Melbourne through central and western Victoria to the South Australian and New South Wales borders. Households represent about 86% of our 844,000 customer connections which also include 11,175 commercial and industrial businesses and over 100,000 small businesses mainly in the health care, agriculture, forestry and fishing sectors.

Ownership structure

CitiPower and Powercor are privately-owned businesses with three owners, each of which is privately owned and stock exchange-listed.

These are ASX-listed, Spark Infrastructure (49%), Hong Kong stock exchange-listed Power Asset Holdings (27.93%) and Hong Kong stock exchange-listed CK Infrastructure (23.07%).

Both Power Asset Holdings and CK Infrastructure are part of the CK Group, a global company with investments in infrastructure, telecommunications, retail, ports and related businesses, energy, property and aircraft leasing.

Australian-based Spark Infrastructure’s investments are in leading essential energy infrastructure businesses within Australia.
