Powercor Pier to Pub and Powercor Mountain to Surf

We live here. Work here too.

The local lineys in our latest Powercor advertisement, Zac and Shaun, weren’t talking about the ocean current because they could see it from above.

They knew because they live there.

Across regional Victoria, our crews are members of the communities they serve. They shop locally, volunteer locally and raise their families locally.

That’s something we’re proud of, and one of the reasons we’re proud to support both the Powercor Mountain to Surf on Friday 8 January 2027 and the Powercor Lorne Pier to Pub on Saturday 9 January 2027.

Both events raise awareness for beach and water safety, emphasising the importance of lifesaving initiatives and community wellbeing.

Funds raised from the Powercor Pier to Pub swim and the Powercor Mountain to Surf fun run directly support the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club, helping to maintain vital water safety services along the Surf Coast.

Dive in. More about the Powercor Pier to Pub swim.

The Powercor Pier to Pub swim is one of the world’s largest and most iconic ocean swims, drawing more than 5,000 swimmers to the waters off Lorne each year. The 1.2km course starts at the famous Lorne Pier and finishes in front of the Lorne Surf Life Saving club – just metres from the pub that gives the race its famous name.

Over the years, the swim has attracted some of Australia’s greatest names in the water, with past winners including Kieran Perkins, Rob Woodhouse, Daniel Kowalski and Lani Pallister – alongside thousands of everyday swimmers who come for the challenge, the atmosphere and the unforgettable coastal setting.

Where the forest meets the sea: Mountain to Surf fun run.

The Powercor Mountain to Surf fun run is as spectacular as it is challenging – a fun run that serves up sweeping views, testing climbs and an unforgettable coastal finish.

The 8km run or walk starts in the heart of Lorne on the Great Ocean Road, heading straight uphill through the Otway forest ranges before dropping onto the St George River track. From there, the course winds its way back toward the coast, finishing with a stunning run past the iconic Lorne Pier to the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club.

Renowned for its relaxed, friendly atmosphere, the Powercor Mountain to Surf brings together people of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply soaking up the scenery, it’s an event that celebrates movement and community.
