Power is expected to be restored to most customers within the CitiPower and Powercor by late this afternoon following Friday’s severe weather.
Crews worked throughout the night and are on the ground today repairing poles and wires damaged by fallen trees and branches during the wild weather.
There are now 12,252 customers remaining without power across the two networks – down from a peak of 187,000 yesterday morning. Of those customers, 11,915 are in the Powercor network and 325 are in CitiPower.
Last night, crews restored power to Lorne, Blackwood and the majority of the Apollo Bay township, as well as the Bendigo region. We have also been reducing the number of customers without power throughout the other regions affected by the storms.
Extra crews have again been mobilised to attend faults in the areas that have sustained some of the most damage.
Current customer numbers off supply as at 9.45am are:
Geelong | 4,428 | |
Ardeer | 2,344 | |
Ballarat | 2,117 | |
Kyneton | 995 | |
Terang | 186 | |
Daylesford | 682 | |
Warrnambool | 1,234 | |
Apollo Bay | 143 | |
There is a possibility that a small number of customers may be without power supply until tomorrow.
This has been a difficult situation for many of our customers and we do thank them for their patience as we work to repair the damage and restore power safely.
We will continue updating estimated restoration times at www.powercor.com.au and through our contact centre.
If people do see a fallen powerline, they should always stay well away from them and report them to us immediately on 13 24 12.
