CitiPower and Powercor’s Head of Field Services Ross Young said completing the four-year apprenticeship program provided recruits with not only a job with great pay and unrivalled job security, but also the chance to work in one of the most exciting and fast-paced industries available.

“These roles offer the chance to work on some really big and important infrastructure projects, as well as integrating renewables into our network and supporting customers embrace rooftop solar and other technologies,” Mr Young said.

“We have a strong focus on equal opportunity and encourage women to apply and join our growing group of female trades.”

“We’ll pay for all of your TAFE and tuition fees and you’ll be part of a tight knit crew, providing amazing support as you begin your career.”

“You’ll also be learning from our experienced team here at CitiPower and Powercor and enjoy the teamwork and friendship that comes with any of our roles.”

The recruits’ work will range from delivering our major works program to restoring power safely and quickly to customers if a fault occurs, often during extreme weather conditions.

Mr Young said the selection process was always difficult, with high quality applicants vying for the coveted roles.

“The right candidates will be team players and have a commitment to safety,” Mr Young said.

“These roles suit people who enjoy working outdoors and at heights, in all types of weather, and who have a passion for hands-on learning.”

“Of our entire field workforce, about two thirds started as apprentices which just goes to show the level of job security you can enjoy with CitiPower and Powercor.”

To apply, candidates must have completed, or be completing, Year 11 VCE or VCAL and achieved a pass in General Maths/Numeracy or have completed (or be completing) a pre-apprenticeship TAFE training course in Electrotechnology (Cert II).
