CitiPower is working with AusNet to decommission the 22kV sub-transmission network served by West Melbourne Terminal Station.
The West Melbourne Terminal Station receives high voltage electricity and coverts it to lower voltages which is distributed by CitiPower into homes and businesses.
The plan to decommission the 22kV sub-trans network served by the terminal station was submitted and endorsed by the Australian Energy Regulator as part of the 2016-2020 price reset.
We will be working with AusNet and Jemena on the project over the next few years and anticipate that the works will be completed in 2021.
Also included in this project, near end of life assets at our Bouverie Street, Laurens Street, Spencer Street and Tavistock Place zone substations will be decommissioned and offloaded to the surrounding network.
Dock Area and Vic Rail zone substations will also be upgraded from 22kV to 66kV.
