Avoiding power outages and impacts to wildlife

Last year, a record number of fruit bats (also known as flying foxes) migrated to northern Victoria, causing dozens of power outages and, sadly, many fatalities when they came into contact with our network. The community’s concern was loud and clear and we acted just as quickly.

From lamps to lighting up the grid

Maria Jose didn’t realise it at the time, but her lamp building experience would eventually lead to a promising career in power. Maria is a former recipient of our Women in Engineering Scholarship program and current Engineering graduate.
