CitiPower and Powercor are working with West Gate Tunnel Project (WGTP), to ensure our assets are relocated and protected during the construction and ultimate delivery of the West Gate Tunnel.

Project Outcomes

The WGTP will deliver an alternative to the West Gate Bridge and relieve congestion to Melbourne’s western suburbs.

As part of the WGTP, CitiPower and Powercor assets at various sites have been identified as requiring relocation to enable freeway and tunnel construction.

Our work on the WGTP includes;

  • Installation, jointing and termination of new 66kV & 22kV underground cables.
  • Removal of existing 66kV & 22kV overhead powerlines.
  • Construction of new 66kV & 22kV overhead powerlines.

Our sites around the WGTP are;

  • Westgate Freeway between South Kingsville and the M80 interchange.
  • Footscray Road.
  • Mackenzie Road.
  • Dahlenburg Street.
  • Dynon Road.
  • Moonee Ponds Creek.
  • Wurundjeri Way.
  • Bourke Street (Docklands).

At time during our works there will be some interruptions to the local community, while we relocate and connect to the surrounding network.

Some impacts which may be experienced will include; excavation works in local roads and footpaths, some local traffic and pedestrian changes and planned power outages.
