Powercor Stawell Gift

Essential as the Gift is to Stawell.

The Gift’s essential partner.

The Powercor Stawell Gift is one of those rare events that feels bigger than sport. Every Easter, Central Park becomes the place where locals catch up, kids dream big, and athletes of all levels take their shot on one of the sport’s most famous tracks.

It’s where emerging runners line up next to legends, families and tourists spread out on the grass, and the town comes alive in a way that only the Gift can deliver. There’s history underfoot, excitement in the air, and a sense that everyone, from runners, volunteers, locals and visitors – is part of something special.

The impact doesn’t stop at the finish line either. The Gift brings thousands of visitors to Stawell, supporting local businesses, and showcasing the best of western Victoria to a national audience – creating pride that lasts long after race weekend.

That’s why Powercor proudly backs both the Men’s and Women’s Gift events, as the Gift’s essential partner, helping power an event that is essential to this town and its people.

It’s a legacy worth supporting.

Built on fairness and opportunity.

The Powercor Stawell Gift sets the standard for equality, with men and women competing for the same prize money – because talent and effort deserve equal reward. By awarding the same prize money to the winners of both races, the Gift continues to reinforce that opportunity in sport should be fair, inclusive and equal for everyone.

Our lineys are doing well in their own field.

On Easter Monday, we kick off the day’s finals in true Gift style with the Powercor Liney Invitational Handicap, our very own race that sees local lineys swap hard hats for spikes and power down the straight.

It’s our way of showing how much we genuinely love the Gift – not just by supporting it, but by being a part of it.

The 2026 winner of the Liney Invitational was first-year liney apprentice from Horsham, Sam Janetzki.

About the Gift.

Since 1878, the Powercor Stawell Gift has stood the test of time, earning its place as one of the world’s most revered foot races.

Unlike the world’s biggest athletic stages, this race is not run on synthetic tracks or inside stadiums. It’s run on grass – the same Central Park oval that hosts local football and cricket for most of the year. But each Easter, that familiar ground is transformed, becoming a place where history, courage and speed collide.

The Gift’s unique handicap format levels the field and heightens the drama, with athletes starting from different marks based on form and ability.

The finals, held on Easter Monday, delivers a moment that has stopped the nation time and time again.

There’s no other race like it.
