Powercor crews have been working through the night to restore power to thousands of customers impacted by yesterday’s extreme conditions.
Strong winds, extreme temperatures and storms caused outages on parts of our network yesterday, with lightning causing more outages into the evening as the cool change swept through the state.
While power has been restored to most customers impacted by yesterday’s events, this morning’s storm front has affected power to about 20,000 customers.
Crews are working as safely and as quickly as possible to get power back on to homes and businesses.
The hardest hit area is currently in the western suburbs, including about 5000 customers without power in the Werribee area, 3000 customers around Bacchus Marsh and about 10,000 customers in the Sunshine and St. Albans area.
The cause of these outages is varied and includes storm activity and a car striking a pole.
We understand how difficult it is to be without power for any length of time and we thank customers for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power as quickly as possible.

We want to remind people that if they do see a fallen powerline, they should stay well clear of it and report it immediately to us on 13 24 12.
These are localised network issues and are not the result of a lack of electricity generation or supply.
